HFMWeek announces European awards launch

HFMWeek is to award European-based hedge funds that out-performed the vagaries of the markets in 2008.
On Wednesday, the magazine formally launched its European Performance Awards, due to take place on the 21 May, at London’s Hurlingham Club.

This year the awards will be spread over fourteen categories, and will provide accolades to hedge fund managers and funds of hedge fund (FoHF) professionals that have managed to beat the downward trend of 2008.
Last year, according to data provider Hedge Funds Research, the industry was down an average of 26.4%. So far in 2009, the sector has returned a little over 1%.
