Cedar Hill Capital allocates to TreePoint

Cedar Hill Capital Partners, the New York-based hedge fund sponsor founded by SAC alumnus Emil Woods and Charles Cascarilla, has allocated to TreePoint Fund Management, a new global macro manager, HFMWeek has learned.

According to a document filed with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), TreePoint Fund Management, based in New York, has rolled out offshore and onshore versions of its TreePoint Capital Partners fund.

Daniel Solomon, chief operating officer of Lyford Group International, a New York-based global macro firm, said the environment is favorable for managers in this space because political uncertainty in the US and Europe remains extremely high.

“Market volatility also remains high and these two things have historically provided a good opportunity set for macro managers,” he said.

Patrick Neal, TreePoint’s portfolio manager, was previously a managing director in the equities sales and trading division at Jefferies & Co. Before joining Jefferies, he was head of derivatives strategy at Bank of America.
According to an SEC filing, the fund has a $500,000 investment minimum.
