Incubation specialist seeds ninth manager

IMQubator, the hedge fund incubation specialist, has seeded its ninth manager, a volatility fund, with €25m ($33.2m) and is targeting acceleration capital for its eight underlying funds.

The Amsterdam-based investment firm targets emerging managers and offers access to investors through its multi-manager fund.

Volvar Asset Management, which uses a systematic long-short volatility investment process, is the latest addition to IMQ’s platform.

CEO and founder, Jeroen Tielman, said: “This is the moment investors should increase their exposure to hedge funds, which provide a better match to their ‘real benchmark' than long only strategies.”

Nadejda Rakovska, Volvar’s head of business development, added: “In light of market developments, we believe sophisticated investors are ready for the volatility asset class as it brings a very useful building block to their portfolio construction. We are very confident investors understand and subscribe to our scenario-based risk approach.”
