Chelsea Clinton’s husband eyes global macro launch for next year
Mark Mezvinsky, the husband of Chelsea Clinton, is readying his long-rumoured hedge fund launch for the first half of 2012, HFMWeek can reveal.
The news follows earlier reports that Mezvinsky had quit 3G Capital last year amidst speculation that he was considering launching a new management firm.
According to a source familiar with the plans, the new manager will be called Eaglevale Partners and will roll out its flagship global macro strategy within the next six months. For the launch,
Mezvinsky is joined by two of his former colleagues - Bennett Grau and Mark Mallon - from the Goldman Sachs Global Macro Proprietary Trading Group.
Additional details were not available. An Eaglevale spokesperson declined to comment.
Grau started the Goldman Sachs Global Macro Proprietary Trading Group in 1988. Mallon who has worked in the group since 2004, was previously the global macro portfolio manager at Caxton Associates
from 1992 to 2003.
The firm has also hired Michael Fox as chief administrative officer. He was most recently portfolio manager at Woodbine Capital Advisors, a global macro fund. Previously, he was a managing director
at Intrepid Capital Management.
