BNY Mellon appoints new Luxembourg sales chief

BNY Mellon, the fund administrator, has hired its first sales executive in Luxembourg to head up its alternatives unit in the country, HFMWeek has learned.

Brian McMahon, who has been appointed managing director, joins from rival Citi and has been tasked with the development of business and relationships in the Emea region.

He has experience across hedge funds, private equity and real estate, and previously held an investment services role at State Street.

Additionally, it promoted Valeria Anderson, who has been at the company for six years, to senior salesperson and vice president within its alternatives unit’s business development team in London.

She will focus on developing business in the fund of hedge funds, managed account and Ucits sectors, as well as expanding business in France, where she was previously based.

The pair will both report to Marina Lewin, global head of business development for the Alternative Investment Services unit.

BNY Mellon was ranked third in HFMWeek’s Assets Under Administration survey in October 2011, coming in behind Citco and State Street with $348bn under administration.
