Abundance Partners fund goes offshore

Abundance Partners, the New York-based long/short hedge fund manager, has launched an offshore version of its flagship offering this month, HFMWeek has learned.

The Abundance Offshore Fund has a mini master/feeder structure that is identical to the onshore fund. It rolled out with a commitment from a fund of hedge funds and has a $200m capacity.

Strategy and business development partner David Katona said that as Abundance is an opportunistic long/short equity hedge fund with a trading-oriented strategy, it has historically performed well in volatile markets.

“The offshore vehicle is the hedge fund industry’s best practice option for accepting non-US investors.”

The fund invests primarily in US and international listed equities and equity options. It identifies key investment themes that form the core portfolio and to supplement those investments through shorter-term, opportunistic trades.

The fund, managed by Abundance Partners founder Vladimir Efros, has 2/20 fees and quarterly liquidity with 45 days’ notice. The onshore fund at Abundance returned 14.18% last year.
