Queenscliff fund starts initial phase of launch

Queenscliff Partners, a New York-based global macro emerging markets manager, is in the initial phase of launching its flagship hedge fund offerings. According to an investor document, the offerings are called the Queenscliff Fund and Queenscliff Offshore Fund.

Both global macro and emerging markets strategies have had a strong start to 2012. According to HFR data, macro strategies returned 1.1% for January, while emerging markets hedge funds gained 5.3%, its strongest performance since May 2009.

Pak-Chwee Yeoh and Phillip Towzell co-founded Queenscliff. Yeoh, the fund’s portfolio manager, was previously emerging markets portfolio manager at Kingdon Capital Management from 1999 to 2011, while Towzell was a portfolio manager at Bennelong Asset Management from 2006 to 2011.
