GAM makes two new UK hires

European asset manager GAM, a notable player in the funds of hedge funds space, has hired two UK-focused investment specialists, the firm revealed Monday.

Charles Hepworth and James McDaid, who both arrive from UK investment manager Quilter, are expected to start in the second quarter of the year and will work with UK independent financial advisers as part of GAM’s discretionary fund management service.

Hepworth and McDaid have been hired as investment director and investment manager, respectively.

Commenting on the appointments, Graham Wainer, GAM’s global head of private clients and portfolio management, said the firm was “delighted” that the pair had decided to join.

“With their in-depth understanding of the requirements of UK independent financial advisers, they will be invaluable in leveraging GAM’s existing strategy selection, asset allocation and manager selection expertise for this growing client segment,” Wainer said.
