First New York launches prime services division

First New York Securities, a New York-based broker dealer, has launched a prime services division.
The unit, EFX Prime Services, will focus mainly on US long/short equity hedge funds with approximately $50m under management.

First New York Securities had expressed an interest in establishing a prime services unit for quite some time. EFX Prime Services hired Brian Stutman to head up the division as managing director. Stutman was previously co-head of prime services at Lighthouse Prime Services.

Andrew Saunders joined as director of marketing and capital introduction, he was most recently managing director of Hedge Connection, a web-based investor introduction platform. Geoffrey Webster, director of operations, was previously head of the middle-office for programme trading at both Morgan Stanley and Goldman Sachs.

As part of First New York Securities expanded services, it will also ramp up its allocation division, EFX Capital and make selective allocations to managers via managed accounts.
