IMQubator may expand Dutch location model

IMQubator, the Dutch seeding platform renowned for requiring fund managers to relocate to its Amsterdam base, has revealed that its model could be recreated abroad as part of future expansion plans, the firm’s chief executive has said.

“We could export our model to another time zone,” Jeroen Tielman told HFMWeek. “The model is not restricted to being in one location.”

The managers of the five start-ups currently housed have all agreed to move to the IMQubator’s Amsterdam base in order to adhere to the firm’s strict monitoring and guidance regime. A review of the firm’s standard €25m ($31m) allocation is also likely “because of the expected regulatory requirements”, Rikard Lundgren, the firm’s CIO said. Future allocations could be as high as €100m ($123m).
