FSA financial crime chief appointed to board

Margaret Cole, the Financial Services Authority’s (FSA) managing director of enforcement and financial crime, has been appointed to the UK’s financial regulator’s board.

Cole has been with the FSA since 2005, leading the organisation’s efforts to deter financial malfeasance. Last year saw the unit oversee three criminal convictions for insider dealing, 102 fines and prohibitions, with fines levied totalling £33.6m.

Prior to joining the FSA Cole spent 20 years in private practice, specialising in commercial litigation. Currently managing a division of 450 people, she has responsibility for enforcement policy, intelligence gathering, forensic investigations, and civil and criminal proceedings in areas that include market abuse and financial crime.
