Amundi co-head departs to join a hedge fund

Matt Stefan, global co-head of Amundi Alternative Investments, is leaving the company to join a start-up hedge fund, according to a source familiar with his plans.

Stefan was only recently promoted to the position of co-head alongside Francois-Regis Bocqueraz but has already decided to leave the company. His last day is expected to be Friday 10 September, according to a source familiar with Amundi.

Amundi was formed following the merger of Credit Agricole Asset Management and Societe Generale Asset Management. Late last year, Amundi transferred its fund of hedge funds range to managed accounts as part of an industry-wide move toward structured vehicles.

In March 2010, Amundi’s managed account platform ranked eighth by assets under management (AuM) in the first comprehensive compilation of the managed accounts sector's ten biggest players by AuM conducted by HFMWeek.
